Target Audience -
Pop music is targeted generally at younger people. However it can appeal to all ages, making it a universal genre - this makes it great for marketing. Most people find themselves listening to pop music as it is everywhere; its on TV, on the radio and played in restaurants and shops. Personally the audience for pop music would be an age group of about 10 - 25. Artists often however target themselves to more varied categories of fans. For example One direction typically would market themselves to teenage girls and not boys. You would generally not see a 16 year old boy listening to one direction but you would see a 16 year old girl, this is because of how one direction are marketed. The target audience an artists wants to appeal to can determine how successful they become.

Marketing for the right audience is important for the success of an artist. So using the correct artist to match my target audience will ensure that my magazine becomes a success and stands out against all of the other pop music magazines already on the market.
