We were set the task to take a pre-existing magazine and remake and remodel it. We had to use original photography but we could use the established masthead and artist names.
This is my completed remake remodel task. I first began by deciding which magazine I was going to work from. As I am going to do a pop magazine for my final piece I decided the magazine I chose had to match the same genre. After looking through ideas, I settled on doing a Billboard magazine. I then chose which particular issue i was going to recreate, I went for the magazine on the left - an edition from 2011. I liked this magazine as it id full with cover lines and colour, adding life and personality. The layout worked well together, which would make it easy for me to replicate.
I began by deciding to complete this task on Paint.net, I chose this software as I am more familiar with it and have had a lot of practice working with in the past. I then used the picture I had chosen from a previous post and pasted onto the page above the white background I had set. I used the Magic wand tool to then cut out the background from the image. I did this as it didn't give the effect that I was hoping for. I then added a matching masthead behind the image. I decided to use a similar layout to the original magazine. I couldn't find a matching font however i found one that gave a good look on the page. I also matched the boarder and made my own boarder fit around the page using a line tool on Paint.net. It was also important that I included all of the code and conventions from the original magazine. The colour choice was based on the colours used. I think they worked well and wanted to replicate them.
